YouTube Launches AI Edit, Custom Feeds; YouTube Music Rolls Out New Tools
YouTube accounts for 37% of the world’s mobile internet traffic. People use YouTube for many reasons and often rely on it as a trusted source. In the Philippines, it is now the most-watched video platform in rural areas according to a study from Kantar. It can be so easy to pull out your phone while commuting or while relaxing in the evening and watch YouTube videos.
The “Made On YouTube 2026” event in September saw YouTube announce big updates adding AI editing, custom feeds, and new tools on the platform for creators and brands. Viewers can now build custom homepage feeds using simple prompts.
Ask YouTube now recommends products, artists, and podcasts. Shorts also get a Series format so episodes can be grouped into seasons for easier viewing. Creators get more editing help. YouTube Studio now supports A/B testing with up to three video cuts to see which one keeps viewers watching.
AI editing in Shorts and the YouTube Create app trims pauses, adjusts pacing, and suggests edits. Studio can also generate thumbnails that match a channel’s style. Safety tools are also stronger. Creators will get mobile alerts if their face or voice is detected in other content. Voice and facial detection now work together for better protection.
Community and live features are growing. Creators can merge streams for live showdowns, use auto dubbing in real time to reach global audiences, and host Watch With sessions on long videos. Members-only spaces and AI comment moderation improve community control.

Meanwhile, YouTube Music is rolling out new features to make finding songs and podcasts easier. The update introduces Ask Music and Podcast Lineup. Ask Music is a conversational tool built into the app. It lets you search across more than 300 million tracks, including studio recordings, remixes, live sets, etc. You can use it to build queues, check artist stories, and control playback with simple prompts.
Podcast Lineup is an AI audio guide that gives you a weekly spoken preview of recommended shows. It explains why certain podcasts might interest you and lets you jump into episodes hands-free. This makes it easier to discover new content without scrolling through long lists.
YouTube shared that in July alone, users discovered new artists over 450 million times on the platform. These new tools aim to push that number higher by making discovery more personal and effortless. Both Ask Music and Podcast Lineup will be available soon to YouTube Music and Premium subscribers worldwide, giving you smarter recommendations and more control over your listening experience.
These updates give creators more ways to grow and protect their work, while viewers get smarter discovery and new ways to connect. Most of the features are rolling out globally starting this year.
