Acer relaunches Packard Bell with refreshed identity for a New Generation

Founded in 1926 in Los Angeles, Packard Bell first made consumer radios accessible to a wider audience, then helped democratize color television and, decades later, personal computers. Across every era, the brand built its reputation on the same principle: bringing useful technology to the many, not the few.

A century later, that mission remains as relevant as ever. At IFA 2026, Packard Bell, under the Acer Group, marks its 100th anniversary with a full relaunch: a new visual identity, a “Tech it easy” philosophy, and a new collection of products, led by the 14.5-inch DotBook laptop, arriving in European retail starting from Q4 2026.

Valerie Piau, EMEA vice president, Acer Europe SA, said: “Celebrating our 100th anniversary is the right moment to go back to our roots. People need technology that helps them study, work, and stay in touch, all at a fair price. That is what ‘Tech it easy’ means—our signature focus on keeping things simple.”

An Identity designed for a new generation

The refreshed identity has been built around a single shape: the dot. The new emblem, a constellation of dots, hides the letters “P” and “B” in plain sight, an abstract nod to a century of history redrawn for the present. The dots are thought of as cells rather than pixels, a way of signaling technology that is human and built for real life.

The brand speaks the way it is designed. A warm, plain-spoken tone of voice replaces tech jargon; lifestyle imagery shows people using the products in their daily life. The company will first build its brand presence on digital channels, where the new generation of consumers shop. Four vibrant colours (orange, purple, green, and yellow) connect the dots from campaigns to products.

The collection is led by the DotBook, a 14.5-inch laptop built for browsing, streaming, and everyday work, recalling the first netbooks that made Packard Bell a fixture of family homes. Around it, the first wave covers the moments where technology actually lives:

>DotLoop — a suitcase vinyl turntable for the living room

>DotTune — a speaker that revives home listening

>DotLine — a colorful 4G feature phone for families and digital-balance seekers

>DotLook — audio glasses that handle music and calls without any earbuds or screen

>DotShine — a ring light for creators

>DotCombo — a keyboard-and-mouse set for the desk

>DotBass — the indispensable color matching headphones

During a Sept 8 hearing of the House committee on the welfare of children, Pasig City Rep. Roman Romulo presented the still unnumbered substitute bill to 10 proposals seeking to protect minors from the dangers of unabated social media use. He said, the full ban for children below 13 is meant to restrict them from having any screen time.

“Basically the bill now will be a ban on all social media platforms for those under 13. What we want is for them not to have any screen time,” said Romulo, chair of the House committee on basic education and culture and head of the technical working group that crafted the substitute bill.

The proposed restrictions for those aged 13 to 18 will cover viewing short videos, using messaging applications, and accessing harmful content. “For those 13 to below 18 years of age, we will have a ban on features such as harmful content, which is defined in the law [as] topics revolving around violence, sex, and similar topics,” Romulo said.

Meanwhile, Las Piñas Rep. Mark Anthony Santos has thrown his support behind proposals to restrict social media use for children aged 14 and below amid fears that the internet is being used by drug syndicates to recruit young people and even engage in drug trade through coded communication.

In a statement in August 2026, Santos said he was in favor of the proposal that would ban children from In June 2026, the House of Representatives approved on third and final reading a bill that seeks to strengthen the country’s protections against online child sexual abuse and exploitation, with new safeguards addressing threats posed by artificial intelligence (AI). House Bill No. 9461 or the proposed Child Online Safety and Protection Act of 2026 got 284 votes in the plenary session.

The bill strengthens and expands Republic Act No. 11930, or the Anti-Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children and Anti-Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials Act, by broadening enforcement mechanisms and updating legal protections to address emerging threats.
